1. Who We Are

SoftPlex Inc. ("SoftPlex", "we", "our", or "us") is the developer and publisher of the Simple Battery Alarm Android application, distributed through Google Play. Our registered business address is in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with operations in Niigata, Japan, and technical leadership based in Poland, European Union.

SoftPlex Inc. is the data controller for personal information processed in connection with Simple Battery Alarm. We are committed to compliance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), and the Google Play Developer Program Policies.

For all privacy enquiries, you may reach us at support@softplex.io.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies solely to the Simple Battery Alarm mobile application for Android. It explains what information the app accesses on your device, what information is collected and shared, and the choices available to you. Use of the SoftPlex website (softplex.io) is governed by our separate website Privacy Policy.

Some behaviour described below can be tuned remotely (for example, how often an ad may appear, or whether the ad-blocker check in §7 runs at all), so details may vary slightly between app versions. This policy describes everything the App is capable of doing so that it is complete before a change reaches you.

3. How the App Works & What It Accesses

Simple Battery Alarm rings an alarm when your battery reaches a level you choose — for example, "alert me when charging reaches 85%" so you can unplug, or "alert me when the battery drops to 20%" so you can find a charger. You create one or more alarms, each with a percentage, a charging or discharging direction, an alarm tone, and a ring duration. A background service watches the battery level while an alarm is armed and shows a full-screen alarm, even over the lock screen, when the level is reached. The App also shows a live status screen with your battery's charge level, charging status, temperature, electric current (mA), and battery technology, keeps a history of your charging sessions, and can run an optional foreground service for a few percent of charge to estimate your battery's real capacity.

Your battery data and alarms never leave your device. Simple Battery Alarm has no account system and no cloud sync. Alarms, tones, battery readings, charge history, capacity measurements, and all settings are stored and processed locally, and we do not collect, transmit, or sell your battery data.

Simple Battery Alarm does not require root access and makes no changes to your device beyond its own private storage. The App's network access is used only for advertising in the free version, the ad-blocker check described in §7, analytics and crash reporting, remote configuration, and Google Play services such as billing, in-app updates, and the in-app review prompt — each described in its own section below.

4. Information We Collect

Simple Battery Alarm does not require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or contact details to function. The information processed falls into the following categories:

CategoryExamplesCollected byLeaves device?
Battery telemetry Charge level, charging status, temperature, current (mA), battery technology, measured capacity, charging-session history (start/end level, temperature, and time) The app (local) No — read, displayed, and stored on your device only
Alarms, tones & settings Alarm percentages and directions, ring duration, the alarm tone you picked (a reference to a system ringtone or an audio file you chose), temperature unit, theme, language, and notification preferences The app (local) No — stays on device (may be included in Android's own device backup, see §13)
Ad-blocker check result (free version only) Whether a short list of well-known advertising hostnames resolved normally on your device, the number that did not, and how long the check took — never the hostnames' responses themselves or anything about your browsing The app (local verdict); a summary is logged to Firebase Analytics Yes — as an analytics event only; see §7
Purchase & entitlement data Confirmation from Google Play that the one-time ad-removal product was purchased Google Play Billing Handled by Google; verified on your device — we operate no purchase server (see §8)
Analytics Pseudonymous app-instance identifier, app opens, sessions, screens viewed, device model, OS version, app version, coarse (country-level) region, and a small number of app-specific events about advertising, purchasing, and the ad-blocker check (see §9) Firebase Analytics (Google) Yes — see §9
Diagnostics & crash logs Crash stack traces, ANR reports, app version, device model, OS version Firebase Crashlytics (Google) Yes
Advertising identifiers Google Advertising ID (AD_ID) and limited technical signals used to serve and measure ads AppLovin MAX & mediation partners Yes — free version only, see §6

We do not collect location, contacts, photos, messages, call logs, microphone, or camera data, and the App requests no permissions that would allow it to. If you pick a custom alarm tone from your own files, Android's document picker grants the App access to that single audio file and nothing else; the App stores only a reference to it so it can play the tone. If you choose the in-app "send feedback" option, your email app opens with a draft that pre-fills your device brand, model, and Android version so we can help you faster — you can see and edit this text before sending, and nothing is sent unless you send the email yourself.

5. How We Use Information

We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing, and we do not sell personal information.

6. Advertising & Consent

The free version of Simple Battery Alarm displays advertising through AppLovin MAX, which mediates ads from partner ad networks including Google AdMob, Google Ad Manager, Meta Audience Network, Unity Ads, Liftoff/Vungle, Chartboost, and Pangle (ByteDance). Ad formats used are banner ads, native ads embedded in some screens (including a medium-rectangle fallback on the alarm screen), and an occasional full-screen interstitial shown after you save or edit an alarm, subject to a minimum interval between showings. These networks may use your device's advertising identifier and limited technical signals to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted.

If you are in a region that requires it (such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland), the App presents a consent request on first launch via Google's User Messaging Platform (an IAB TCF v2 consent flow). You can grant or refuse consent for personalized advertising, and where regulations require it the App's settings offer a privacy options entry to change your choice later. You can also limit ad tracking at any time through your device's settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads) to reset or delete your advertising ID.

A one-time ad-removal purchase (see §8) removes advertising entirely, and with it the ad-blocker check in §7.

7. Ad-Blocker Check

Because advertising funds the free version, Simple Battery Alarm checks whether ads are being blocked on your device. The check is heuristic and deliberately narrow: the App asks your device to resolve a short, fixed list of well-known advertising hostnames and looks at whether each one resolved normally, failed to resolve, or resolved to a "sinkhole" address such as localhost — the typical signature of a DNS-based blocker (Private DNS, AdGuard, Pi-hole, or a modified hosts file). Before it draws any conclusion it first confirms your internet connection is actually working by making a plain request to Google's connectivity-check endpoint, so airplane mode, captive portals, and flaky connections are not mistaken for blocking. Only when a threshold of the probes look blocked does the App decide that ads are being blocked.

The check does not inspect your browsing, your other DNS queries, your network traffic, your Private DNS settings, or the other apps installed on your device. It is skipped entirely for Premium users, and it can be switched off remotely for everyone (see §9).

Where the check finds active ad blocking, the App's main screens are covered by a notice asking you to disable the blocker for Simple Battery Alarm or upgrade to Premium; you can retry the check at any time from that notice. Your alarms keep running regardless — the alarm-monitoring service, the alarm screen, and the quick-settings tile are never affected.

What is reported. Each run logs a summary to Firebase Analytics (§9): the verdict (clear, blocked, or unknown), the reason it was reached, how many of the probed hostnames looked blocked or hit a network error, the total number probed, and how long the check took. If the verdict is "blocked", the App additionally records an analytics event and a user property marking the app instance as one where ads were blocked, once per launch, so that we can measure how much of the free audience is affected. These reports carry no hostname responses, no IP addresses, and no information about your browsing or other apps, and they are tied only to the pseudonymous analytics app-instance identifier described in §9 — never to your name or an account.

8. Purchases

Simple Battery Alarm offers a single optional paid product: a one-time, non-consumable ad-removal purchase ("Premium"). Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. Google does not share your full payment details with us — the App receives confirmation from Google Play that the purchase exists and applies your entitlement on your device.

We operate no purchase server: no purchase token, receipt, or payment information is sent to SoftPlex. Your entitlement is tied to your Google account and is restored automatically by querying Google Play when you reinstall or switch devices. The App logs a small number of analytics events around purchasing (that a purchase was started, that entitlements were synced, and the state of the billing connection); these contain no payment details.

9. Analytics, Diagnostics & Remote Configuration

Simple Battery Alarm uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate and Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes.

Firebase's standard automatic collection applies — app opens, session counts, screens viewed, and standard technical information such as a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, device model, operating-system version, app version, and coarse (country-level) region. In addition, the App logs a small set of its own events, all of them about the App's commercial plumbing rather than about you: ad lifecycle events (an ad loaded, failed to load, was shown, or was clicked, together with the placement, format, ad unit, screen, load time, and any error code), ad impressions with the estimated revenue reported by the ad network, the purchase and billing events described in §8, and the ad-blocker check summary described in §7. Your battery readings, alarms, tones, and charge history are never included in analytics. These events are not tied to your name or any account — the App has none — and clearing the app's data or uninstalling the App resets the app-instance identifier.

Crashlytics reports contain the technical state of the app at the moment of a crash: a stack trace, app version, device model, and OS version. They are not used for any purpose other than diagnosing faults.

The App also uses Firebase Remote Config to fetch a handful of settings without an app update — for example, the minimum interval between interstitial ads, where native ads may be placed in the alarm list, and whether the ad-blocker check runs at all. This is a download only — nothing about you or your device is uploaded through it beyond the standard technical information that any Firebase request carries.

10. Third-Party Services

Simple Battery Alarm relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

We do not control how these third parties use information collected directly by their SDKs. We encourage you to review their respective policies.

11. Android Permissions

Simple Battery Alarm requests only the permissions needed for its features:

PermissionWhy it is used
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USERunning the alarm-monitoring service while an alarm is armed, and the optional battery-capacity measurement service, each with a visible status notification.
POST_NOTIFICATIONSShowing the monitoring and measurement notifications and the alarm notification itself.
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENTShowing the alarm screen over the lock screen when an alarm rings, so you do not miss it.
VIBRATE, WAKE_LOCKVibrating and waking the screen when an alarm rings.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETEDRe-arming your alarms and restarting the monitoring service after the device restarts.
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONSAsking you, once, to exempt the App from battery optimisation so the system does not stop it watching the battery level. You can decline.
Quick Settings tile (BIND_QUICK_SETTINGS_TILE)Offering a tile in the notification shade to arm or disarm alarms quickly.
AD_IDAccess to the Google Advertising ID for serving and measuring ads (free version).
com.android.vending.BILLINGOffering the ad-removal purchase through Google Play.
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATEDelivering ads, running the ad-blocker check, sending analytics and crash reports, fetching remote configuration, and Google Play billing, updates, and review prompts.

The App requests no location, storage, contacts, camera, microphone, Bluetooth, or usage-access permissions. Choosing a custom alarm tone uses Android's system ringtone picker or document picker, which grants access to only the file you select. Advertising and analytics SDKs bundled with the App may declare additional standard technical permissions of their own (such as the Android AdServices permissions) under their respective policies, and the App declares a Samsung-specific vendor permission for compatibility with Samsung devices that it does not use to collect any data.

13. Data Retention

All app data held on your device — alarms, tones, settings, charge history, and measured capacity — remains until you change it, clear the app's data, or uninstall the App. Because the App participates in Android's standard app backup, your settings and alarms may be included in your device's own Google backup under your Google account's control; you can disable this in your device's backup settings.

Analytics data is retained by Firebase Analytics for the retention period configured in our Firebase project, after which event-level data is deleted. Crash data retained by Firebase Crashlytics is kept according to Google's default retention periods. Advertising data is retained by the respective ad networks per their policies. Purchase records are retained by Google Play under Google's policies.

14. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, PIPEDA, APPI, and similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, and to data portability. You can exercise the following controls directly:

To make a formal request regarding personal information held by us, contact support@softplex.io. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. Because the App has no accounts, we cannot link analytics data to you by name; to locate data for deletion we may need the analytics app-instance identifier, which is only available while the App remains installed.

15. Children's Privacy

Simple Battery Alarm is a general-utility tool intended for a general audience. It is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

16. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. App data on your device is held in the app's private, sandboxed storage that other apps cannot read. Communications with Firebase and Google Play use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS). The App has no server of its own that could hold your data.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

17. International Data Transfers

The third-party services we use (Google, AppLovin, and the ad networks listed in §10) may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, the law, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. Continued use of Simple Battery Alarm after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
